Interview with a Vampire
For this film set design project, the concept reimagines Pointe du Lac Plantation and its bedroom—a space where Louis is haunted by the loss of his wife and child. Subtle candlelit warmth contrasted with cool moonlit blues underscores the tension between his yearning for solace and the pull of a darker immortality.
The lighting highlights the plantation’s stately facade but also reveals the sorrow lingering beneath, providing a striking counterpoint to the emerging darkness. This approach captures the haunting elegance, personal grief, and emotional tension before the moment of catastrophic destruction—an exploration of the interplay between light and dark.
Death Becomes Her
For Death Becomes Her, I designed a surreal, absurdist version of The Von Rhuman’s Ballroom with an ambiguous sci-fi style—blending past and future so the audience isn’t anchored to a specific time. Exploring immortality through exaggerated environments, where geometry, lighting, and texture shape the absurdity of these characters’ lives. The Von Rhuman’s mansion is minimalistic and geometric, inspired by John Lautner’s mid-century modernism and Louis Kahn’s brutalism, with postmodern colors and textures giving it a surreal edge.
